Jerusalem, ALRAY - Palestinian detainee Mahmoud Abdallah al-'Arda, 47, from the town of Arraba, south of Jenin, entered on Wednesday his twenty-seventh consecutive year in Israeli prisons.

Muntasir Sammour, Head of al-Asir Society, said that al-'Arda was one of the six Palestinian detainees who managed to escape from Jelbou’ prison back in September 2021 before being detained again a few days after that.

Sammour added that the Israeli forces detained Al-'Arda on the 21st of September 1996 before being sentenced to life in prison in addition to fifteen years, on charges of alleged participation in resistance operations.

Before that, Al-'Arda was detained in 1992 and spent 41 months in Israeli prisons, and in his last trial, the Israeli occupation court issued a sentence of 5 years in prison against him and his fellow detainees and paid a fine of 5,000 shekels
