Gaza, ALRAY - Egyptian helicopters entered Thursday afternoon the airspace of Rafah city in southern Gaza Strip.

Local media  said Egyptian aircrafts flew over the border districts of the city, especially Mawasi and the Saudi Project, Yebna, Tel Zourob and Salah al-Din Gate.

It added that they continued its way along the Rafah coast to the city of Khan Younis, and then returned by sea.

Egyptian authorities have been tightening procedures on the functioning of the Rafah border crossing since early July and the overthrow of former Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi, while also cracking down on smuggling tunnels at the border with Gaza, which used to be the enclave's artery of basic items like food and construction materials.
