Jerusalem, Agencies - The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has urged the Arab and Islamic nations to protect the Al-Aqsa Mosque, saying that Israel's violations against Jerusalem and its plans to divide the mosque requires that nations take a firm stand to save the Al-Aqsa Mosque from Judaisation.

The Saudi Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Prince Abdul Aziz Bin Abdullah, said on Monday during a meeting of the Ministerial Council of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation in Guinea that: "The Islamic world is going through many serious challenges which requires everyone to examine their political, economic and social repercussions and the best ways to address them and to mitigate them.

One of the major challenges facing the Islamic world is the Arab-Israeli conflict and the continued Israeli building of settlements, which may soon lead to the collapse of the peace efforts in the region.

The Palestinian people's legitimate rights are at the heart of the conflict in the Middle East, and this requires that we emphasise finding comprehensive and fair solutions in accordance with international resolutions and the Arab peace initiative, supported by the Arab and Islamic countries and summits.

The international community must also assume its political and moral responsibilities to pressure Israel and to restore Palestinians' rights and to deter Israel's abusive and inhumane practices against the Palestinian people, so they may achieve their aspirations to establish their independent state with Jerusalem as its capital."

Prince Abdul Aziz continued: "Now more than ever we must stand before the Israeli violations and plans against the Al-Aqsa Mosque and save it from the risk of Judaisation. We must achieve the aspirations of the Palestinian people and the Islamic world."
