Rafah, ALRAY - The Israeli occupation watchtowers, stationed along the eastern border of Rafah south of the Gaza strip, opened fired toward the Palestinian farmers and shepherds early on Sunday. No injuries were reported.

Local media reported that the military towers adjacent Kerem Abu Salem and Abu Motabeq sites east of Rafah intermittently opened fire on that farmers and shepherds, what forced them to leave the area, fearing for their lives.

The shootings coincided with an intensive and low hovering of the Israeli reconnaissance aircraft "drone", east and west of Rafah and Khan Younis.

Farming in the Gaza Strip’s “buffer zone” is hazardous under the best circumstances. Israeli forces routinely shoot live ammunition at Palestinian farmers in the free-fire area, which stretches hundreds of meters into the besieged territory from the barrier separating it and Israel, and invade their fields with tanks and bulldozers.
