Jerusalem, ALRAY - The Israeli occupation prison service has transferred Palestinian detainee Husam Omar to solitary confinement in the notorious prison of “Gilboa”.

The move came after a massive raid by Israeli occupation forces, led by the extremist Israeli occupation cabinet minister, Itamar Ben-Gvir, into Sections 1 and 3 of “Gilboa” prison on Wednesday.

During the violent raid, Israeli occupation forces fired sound bombs at the defenceless detainees and carried out thorough searches of cells.

The Palestinian Prisoners Club said that tension has been mounting in Israeli occupation prisons after the Israeli occupation prison service has intensified its violent attacks against Palestinian detainees, with raids on cells and mass transfers between prisons.

In a press statement Wednesday, the advocacy group held the Israeli occupation prison authority fully responsible for the health and well-being of Omar and all detainees held in “Gilboa” prison.

Sentenced to 35 years in jail, Omar has been jailed since 2002 by the Israeli occupation authorities.

During his imprisonment, he had been in solitary confinement for several years. He previously went on a hunger strike to protest the Israeli occupation prison service’s decision to isolate him.

The number of Palestinian detainees held in Israeli occupation prisons has risen to over 5,200, including 36 women and around 170 children, according to the most recent figures by human rights groups.
