Attacking Gaza: A policy of an Israeli State Terrorism
Similar to the frightening lack of wisdom from US media following 9/11, the recent attack in the southern Sinai gave Benjamin Netanyahu the perfect excuse he needed to change Israel’s public discourse. Indeed his efforts paid off in re-constructing all the public rage onto the "Arab Enemy".
Following the recent developments closely, it is clear to notice that the beginning of the last week Binyamin Netanyahu was desperately looking for a way out of an escalating internal crisis. The Domestic unrest and the social protest movement was gathering momentum and posing a growing danger to his government. The threat to Netanyahu government was that the whole content of the public discourse had changed beyond recognition.
As a result of the Eilat’s Attack, Israel has bombarded Gaza with air strikes and heavy artillery killing 15 people among them a doctor and a two year old child. Furthermore, the Israeli air strikes have created a mayhem and chaos after a relatively good period of calm.
The Gaza government has repeatedly assured the commitment of the Palestinian resistance factions to the period of clam (Truce) that was established with Israel with the help of Egypt after the Gaza massacre in 2009/2010. Despite the established truce, Israel has continuously and systematically attacked Gaza and its population in order to divert the Gaza government’s attention from fulfilling its duties responsibilities to the people of Gaza; drag it onto an unbalanced war under the guise of national security and fighting terrorism; and more disturbing, given the Israeli government a way out of its domestic crises.
In retaliation to the ongoing bombardment of Gaza, Palestinian resistance factions have responded by firing rockets and mortar missiles to the borderline areas where Israeli military camps and tanks are set to target Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.
The Gaza government denounces the silence of the international community and its inability to stop the Israeli aggression on Palestinians. The government also denounces the awful attempts by some media outlets in the West that take the Israeli narrative of the attack without any verification or validation of information. The Gaza government calls upon the UN and the international community to be more responsible towards Palestinians and their legitimate demand of ending the military occupation of the Palestinian territories. Within the context of the recent developments in the Palestinian territories particularly and the region in general, the Gaza government assures on the following:
1. A fair political settlement that ensures Palestinian rights is the way to get out of the ongoing cycle of violence.
2. Under a brutal military occupation, Palestinians have the right to defend themselves against the Israeli aggression.
3. Gaza is not an experimental field where Israel can test it’s newly made or imported deadly missiles.
We call upon the international community to have a more responsible and fair approach towards Palestinians and their demands to end the occupation and the immoral and illegal siege of Gaza.
