West Bank, ALRAY - The Israeli occupation authorities have released Palestinian detainee Hatem Abu Sharia after imprisoning him for five years.

The Israeli occupation army detained Abu Sharia near Gaza's eastern fence as he was participating in the Great March of Return in 2018.

An Israeli military court sentenced Abu Sharia, from the Sabra neighborhood in Gaza City, to five years in jail on 26 May 2019.

The Israeli occupation is holding around 4,900 Palestinian detainees, including 34 women and nearly 160 children in harsh and inhumane conditions in its prisons, according to Palestinian prisoners' rights organizations.
