Gaza, ALRAY - Egyptian authorities said Monday it would open the Rafah crossing for five days as from Tuesday till Sunday excluding Friday.

The Palestinian embassy in Cairo said students and humanitarian cases only would be allowed into the Egyptian territory.

The Palestinian ambassador to Egypt Barakat Al-Farra welcomed the step considering it a part of the Egyptian unremitting efforts to alleviate the suffering of the Gaza population.

The crossing has been operating partially since the ouster of Egyptian president Mohammed Morsi in early July.
